How to install and upgrade Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus 7.0 WiFi Only GT-P6210 to Official Android ICS 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich

This method is called manual flashing by using Odin downloader and the original stock firmware, for we can’t upgrade to it yet via Kies unless we’re in Austria.

Disclaimer: We shall not be held responsible if anything happens t your device for by following this guide. Proceed at your own risk.

– Back up all files before proceeding. Although the Internal memory and microSD card are both left alone during after the flash process for this firmware is a non wipe version. But all your settings and configuration will all be reset.
– Fully recharge your phone’s battery.

Odin Flasher Guide: P6200XXLPN Android 4.0.4 ICS Firmware onSamsung Galaxy Tab Plus 7.0 WiFi GT-P6210

1) Extract all the downloaded stock ROM to get the .tar.md5 file.
2) Run Odin3_v1.85.exe
3) DO NOT CHECK the RE-PARTITION checkbox, only both ‘Auto Reboot’ ans ‘F-Rreset’ left alone.
4) Click the PDA button then load the extractedP6210XXLPN_P6210OXALPN_P6210XXLPN_HOME.tar.md5 file.

5) Reboot the tablet into Download Mode: Turn it Off, then( Press Volume Down + Power ON button at the same time).
6) Once the phone in download mode screen, connect USB cable To Phone. The highlighted yellow ID:COM box is and indication that the device is connected properly to PC. If you still do not get any results, try another USB port on your computer.
7) Click the Start button to begin flashing.
8 Wait until it finishes or watch out for the word “PASS”.

Once the phone completely reboots, perform wipe/factory reset to get a fresher firmware installation.
1. Hold Power and Volume Up together, this will switch the device into recovery mode.
2. Release Power after holding it for a second but continue to hold the Volume Up button until recovery menu appears.

Select wipe cache
Select wipe data/factory reset.
Select reboot

That’s all! The Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus 7.0 WiFi GT-P6210 now runs in Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Root the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Wi-Fi GT-P6210

The earlier Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 tablet was given some major boost in the form of its more muscular brother—the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Wi-Fi GT-P6210. This newer 7-inch tablet now boasts a faster 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, Android 3.2 Honeycomb underneath, and several system improvements.

Just like any Android device, the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Wi-Fi GT-P6210 is completely rootable.  We’ll not go into the nitty-gritty of the pros and cons of rooting your device, but suffice it to say that root access is direly needed if you wish to load up your Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Wi-Fi with custom ROMs, or run root-only utilities on it.

Requirements

  • A Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Wi-Fi GT-P6210.  Do not attempt to use these instructions on other models or variants.
  • Install USB drivers for your tablet by installing Samsung KIES.
  • Backup your mobile phone data or securely store files on the tablet’s SD card prior to rooting your tablet.
  • Maintain battery power of at least 60% to keep your tablet running throughout the entire rooting process.
  • To minimize interruptions, temporarily disable antivirus software and firewall programs before you root your tablet.

Warnings

  • Rooting your Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Wi-Fi GT-P6210 will break the warranty.
  • Root your tablet at your own risk. You alone shall be responsible for any damage dealt on your tablet.

Instructions

  1. Download the rooting package (root.zip, 154.4 kB) and save the file to your computer.  Do not extract the file.
  2. Connect your tablet to your computer.
  3. Copy root.zip to the microSD card of your tablet.  You can use Samsung KIES for this.
  4. Disconnect your tablet from the computer.
  5. Turn off your tablet.
  6. Reboot your tablet into recovery mode. You can do this by pressing the Volume Up button and Power Button at the same time. When the tablet turns on, release the Power button while keeping the Volume Up key pressed until recovery loads.
  7. Once booted into recovery, navigate to Install update from external storage.
  8. Locate the root.zip file and tap the Power button to select it. This will initiate the rooting process on your tablet.
  9. Go back to the main recovery menu and reboot your rooted tablet.
  10. Install the following apps from the Google Play Store:
    • Download Superuser app here. Run the app and update the su binary.
    • Download Busybox here. Run the app and install the desired Busybox version.

Good job! You have successfully rooted your Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Wi-Fi GT-P6210.
